at Women’s World of Boxing *Gym is wheelchair-accessible, first floor bathroom.

The concept: Training is based on the professional traditional boxing technique, focusing on correct footwork and stance, providing a solid base for fall prevention.

The goal is to complete a 2-hour group class each week, getting consistent exercise as PD medicine and remain injury-free!

What to Expect if I Participate?

Pre-class assessment

  • Review paperwork, sign consent forms (if new)

  • Medical team check-up, doctor clears you to exercise

  • Start addressing any medical or PD-related concern.

  • Bottled water provided. Extra during class if needed.

Warmups - stretching, Tai Chi to dancing, we mix it up!

Shadowboxing - review boxing patterns of movements.

The Fight (Gloves on!) - drills at higher intensity levels, recalling and moving in different patterns, requiring focus and fast reaction speed while maintaining rhythm and balance, getting a moderate to high-intensity workout!

The wind down - post fight checks if necessary, extra wait area for transportation at Moving Brains Foundation office (1 block away), enjoy healthy food choices in East Harlem bakeries, diners, restaurants and cafes at walking distance.

Don’t worry, we make it simple and fun!

Physician supervision and help at all times!

What to Expect if I Participate Consistently?

  • PD motor and non-motor symptoms improve and/or are easier to manage.

  • PD medications work better, less adjustments and dose increases necessary.

  • The risk for falls decrease with improved walking and balance at home.

  • Sleep improves (especially after a tough class!).

  • Memory and concentration improve and/or remain stable.

  • Join our Moving Brains Fighters community and optimize your PD care!
